Welcome to our latest newsletter. It’s great to see the recovery that is taking place in the infrastructure and property markets after such an unsettled year. It’s certainly been reflected in the requirement for our surveying and measurement consultancy services as we continue to be involved in a wide range of interesting projects across the country.

It is with great pleasure to announce some fantastic news about the ownership of our business.  Plowman Craven is now 100% owned internally by its employees and directors, giving us the freedom to collaborate, the freedom to innovate in the direction we feel is right and the freedom to always provide the first-class service we are committed to.

Thank you to all who participated in our all-customer survey. We have forwarded your positive comments back to the teams and we have taken on board everything you have said. Those who contributed helped to raise much needed funds for Rennie Grove Hospice, the local charity we support, so thank you.
 
Now, as we slowly start to return to the office, remote working continues to work well for many of our employees. Our robust systems and procedures mean we are always contactable, and we continue to implement our six-step COVID-19 precautions on site and follow guidelines for safe working in all locations.

Passing the reins to our employees

After 12 years of external control, Plowman Craven is now 100% owned internally by the employees and directors of the business. In a nutshell, this means we’re now completely in charge of our own destiny, allowing us to fully focus on what we believe is important to our clients, our colleagues and the communities that we work and live in. We look forward to working with clients new an old as we move forwards, together, into this new era.

Plowman Craven expands core Environmental services with Land Quality

To further reinforce our Environmental Planning capabilities, we have expanded our Land Quality and Contaminated Land Assessment services.  Land quality issues carry significant engineering and environmental liability for all stakeholders either acquiring, developing or disposing of a site.  Our services range from desktop studies to intrusive ground investigations, remediation and environmental monitoring.

Our in-house expertise is able to identify and advise on land quality risks and maximise the potential for commercial sites, providing support at every stage of a project’s lifecycle, from feasibility and pre-acquisition through to design, planning, construction and end-use.

Key player in Global Underground Utility Mapping

In a recent report highlighted by ReportLinker, Plowman Craven was acknowledged as one of the key players in the global underground utility mapping marketplace. According to the study, the global utility mapping market is expected to reach $1.7bn by 2027.  It’s great to be part of it!

It’s great to get involved

Now restrictions have eased somewhat, our teams have been busy supporting local and educational initiatives.

When the Batford Springs Volunteers needed a little extra help, our green-fingered enthusiasts willingly gave up their lunch breaks to lend a hand to help protect our local nature reserve.  It’s great to work so close to such fantastic green space and it was extremely rewarding to give something back to the community.

In support of Class of Your Own, an initiative to integrate modern technologies and industry processes into a specialist secondary school STEM curriculum, we recently paid a visit to Sir George Monoux Sixth form College in Chingford.  We managed to dodge the showers long enough to demonstrate our Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (drone) capabilities to a group of Design Engineer Construct! students.

Our new faces

As we continue to grow, playing a key role in some of the most prestigious development projects in the UK and overseas, we’d like to introduce you to some new faces.

Nicholas Hanson-Prince – Health, Safety & Compliance Manager

Nicholas has joined the organisation as our Health, Safety and Compliance Manager. With extensive knowledge and experience in HSEQ, he joins the Senior Management Team, bringing with him a broad HSEQ skillset which incorporates the implementation of ISO management systems.

“It’s great to be working at Plowman Craven. I’m really looking forward to learning all there is to know about the world of measurement survey and I’ll be continuing to further develop and improve the great health and safety systems and arrangements the company already has in place.”

Stephanie Ellrott – Sales & Marketing Director

Stephanie is the latest addition to the leadership team. She joined the company in early 2021 as Sales and Marketing Director, with an overarching responsibility of growing all business areas and divisions within Plowman Craven. Stephanie’s extensive experience in leading and setting up sales and marketing functions in different industries, ranging from the hospitality and non-for-profit sectors to the technology and management consultancy sector, as well as her recently completed MBA studies, have prepared her to drive the company’s growth strategy further.

Emily Godsiffe – Head of Land Quality

Emily has joined Plowman Craven as our Head of Land Quality.  She is a Chartered Environmental Consultant with over 15 years’ experience in land quality assessment including contaminated land risk assessment, Environmental Impact Assessment, remediation, environmental management and monitoring. Having gained extensive experience working with a wide range of public and private sector clients on multi-disciplinary projects associated with property, rail, energy, infrastructure and urban regeneration markets both in the UK and internationally, Emily’s appointment brings extensive knowledge to the team, enhancing Plowman Craven’s Land Quality service offerings at every stage of the project lifecycle.

Our knowledgeable and committed staff are the lifeblood of our company, and we’re proud of them and their expertise. We only employ experts, but in some instances those experts are just not satisfied!

Congratulations to the following for recently attaining ILM Leadership and Management accreditation. This was a fantastic accomplishment, considering the difficult lockdown challenges we faced throughout 2020 and we’d like to recognise them in their success.

The Institute of Leadership & Management’s remote/distance learning modules covered a range of subjects including strategic and financial planning, technological advancement, operational delivery, self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
